Schlossberg Lift
Within 30 seconds to the Clock Tower - the Schlossberg lift is a fast and comfortable way to achieve the ascent of Schlossberg hill.
In the fast lane. An unusual, fast and yet comfortable way to achieve the ascent of Schlossberg hill in Graz is the Schlossberg lift. The altogether aesthetically appealing design of this new lift, set into the very core of the hill, is also particularly practical if you’re in a hurry or not inclined or able to walk. During the ride, the lift’s glass cabins offer a clear view of the illuminated, rock-lined elevator shaft and distant sky above – a mountain view from within.

Details
Since 2000, the Lift im Berg has been connecting the foot of the Schlossberg with the Clock Tower quickly and fully accessible for people with disabilities. With two intermediate stops, it also offers access to the venue Dom im Berg and the Clock Tower Casemates. But the 77-metres-high lift is more than just a means of transport – it is an adventure space, as the two panoramic cabins provide views into the interior of the rock. In 2019, another attraction was added with The Slide Graz, which offers a speedy and curvy descent. Since 2020, renowned musicians have been contributing sound installations in the lift as part of the annual Elevate Festival. This creates a unique interplay of architecture, movement and sound.
