Stone Dog
The Stone Dog is commonly associated with the fabled four-legged friend who, according to legend, thwarted the robbery of the emperor’s daughter Kunigunde by mercenaries of the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus around 1480 with his barking. However, the monument from the late 18th century is probably a reminiscence of a real dog owned by a castellan.
The Clock Tower Casemate, which was partly carved into the rock and partly bricked up, was the rear part of a gun casemate built in 1556, from which cannons were aimed at the city moat. Its planned blasting in 1809 was cancelled due to the risk of the Clock Tower collapsing. The casemate was then destroyed by hand but uncovered in 1997. Today it is home to a spectacular 4D-motion-cinema.
