aiola upstairs
On Graz’s Schlossberg, aiola upstairs combines regional and international cuisine with sweeping views over the city. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the restaurant and its spacious terrace invite you to enjoy a relaxing break during your Schlossberg visit.
Completed in 2003, the design by Siegfried Frank and Michael Rieper features a light, open pavilion structure. A roof supported by six slender columns and glazing on three sides define the building. Its distinctive feature: the glass fronts can be lowered into the floor at the touch of a button. In fine weather, the dining room opens onto the terrace, transforming the interior into a covered outdoor space.
A solid structure clad in Stainz natural stone slabs complements the transparent architecture. Alongside its culinary offerings, aiola upstairs provides an intriguing example of contemporary architecture on the Schlossberg.
