European Heritage Day – 27 September 2026
The 2026 motto “Monuments: Value for Everyone.” highlights the social, cultural, ecological and economic value of monuments. It demonstrates that monument protection and preservation are contemporary, vibrant and forward-looking tasks that are relevant to society as a whole and form part of everyday life.
European Heritage Day in Austria is not only an Austrian tradition, but also part of the European Heritage Days – an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union.
In general, programme events on European Heritage Day can be attended without prior registration. For the few events where registration is required, registration will open uniformly for the first time this year on 12 September 2026.
