House of Literature Graz
The Literature House was founded in 2003 when Graz was named European Cultural Capital and is located in a beautiful Palais in the university district. The building also houses the Franz-Nabl institute for literature research and the Styrian Archive for Literature (with works of Barbara Frischmuth, Gerhard Roth and Werner Schwab). Both institutions are part of the Karl-Franzens-University Graz and the programme of the Literature House is financed by the municipality of Graz.

The Literature House is housed in a revitalised city palace dating back to 1852. For Graz’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2003, the historic building was extensively renovated according to plans by the Graz-based architectural firm RieglerRiewe and expanded with a modern event hall.
