Folk Life Museum

Universalmuseum Joanneum

The museum, relaunched in 2021, invites visitors to explore the environments and varied self-images of people living in Styria. The permanent exhibition will be added to and altered. The gardens of this traditional museum at the foot of the Schlossberg will also continue to gradually open in 2022. A particular highlight of the year will be  the redesigned Trachtensaal.

The Folk Life Museum has a unique collection mainly from the pre-industrial period. More than 40,000 objects document the material and spiritual folk culture of Styria. The museum is located in the former Capuchin monastery dating back to the beginning of the 17th century and located at the foot of the Schlossberg in Graz.
