Folk Life Museum

Universalmuseum Joanneum

The Folklore Museum at Paulustor tells of Styrian self-images and different living environments in Styria, of social and cultural change and of how changes shape and move us in everyday life. The permanent exhibition, which opened in 2021, is constantly being expanded. A special highlight of the museum: the newly designed traditional costume hall.
The Folklore Museum in Graz has a unique collection, mainly from the pre-industrial era. More than 40,000 objects document the material and spiritual folk culture of Styria.
The museum is located in the former Capuchin monastery from the beginning of the 17th century at the foot of the Schlossberg in Graz. Since 2021, the gardens of this traditional museum at the foot of the Schlossberg have also been gradually opened.
