The ice nativity scene
The famous ice nativity scene at the Landhaushof will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026. Created in 1996 by ice sculptor Gert J. Hödl, the artwork has been crafted by Finnish ice sculptor Kimmo Frosti since 2014.

The Landhaus courtyard is open daily from 08.00 to 21.00
Now a traditional feature of Advent in Graz, awaited with great excitement every year: the ice nativity scene in the Landhaus courtyard. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the ice nativity scene.
Ice sculpture, light and the courtyard’s beautiful surroundings together create a magical atmosphere that is sure to leave all visitors in awe.
Made with about 35 tons of crystal-clear ice, the crib is sure to be an amazing – if short-lived – work of art again this year.
