Circus Ronaldo - Da Capo I La Strada Graz
The Belgian company Circus Ronaldo creates a circus that is both deeply rooted in tradition and surprisingly contemporary. With authentic circus wagons, historical props and a style of performance inspired by the Commedia dell’arte, the artists pay tribute to the theatrical circus of yesteryear whilst breathing new life into it. As the audience immerses itself in the world of the Ronaldos, reality and fiction blur – and the audience encounters its own vulnerable humanity.
In Da Capo, the Ronaldo family tells its own chronicle – a cinematic and poetic journey through 180 years of wonder, passion and chance. From the 15-year-old boy who ran away with the circus in 1842 to the seventh generation stepping into the ring today, the story unfolds as both a touching family epic and a glimpse into the fantastic history of the global art of the circus.
