All that Jazz opens the new season on 2 October with a quartet representing the new generation of swing musicians.
Ella Fitzgerald is a true phenomenon in the history of jazz; she was often referred to as the ‘Lady of Song’ or the ‘Lady of Swing’. Her velvety voice and extraordinary musicality will never be forgotten. With youthful charm and virtuosity, she captured the hearts of her audience and demonstrated how the female jazz voice can be wielded like an instrument with overwhelming ease and technical perfection. With an extraordinary vocal range of almost three octaves, she perfected scat singing and made it her trademark. She received her 13th Grammy Award in 1990 for her final studio album, *All That Jazz*!
