Helmut List Hall is an outstanding example of how historic industrial architecture can be combined with contemporary design. When the former factory building was transformed in 2003, architect Markus Pernthaler created a flexible concert and event venue while preserving the historic steel structure in the foyer. At the heart of the building, a modern double-shell concert hall with solid wood cladding was added. Today, Helmut List Hall is regarded as a successful example of industrial heritage revitalisation and a fascinating architectural landmark in Graz, a UNESCO City of Design.
