Embrasures
Between 1924 and 1928, the western flank of the Schlossberg was made accessible with a new foot-path. On the occasion of the 800th anniversary celebration of the city of Graz the so-called Anniversary Rock Path was opened on 23 June 1928. Along the path you can see the remains of the medieval castle that once towered over the Schlossberg, long before the Renaissance fortress was built in the sixteenth century. The surviving remains of the west wall give an idea of the imposing height of the medieval castle. Three well-preserved keyhole embrasures and the remains of a tower that once protruded from the ring wall are particularly noteworthy.
