Great world theatre – on stage at Eggenberg Castle. The Alte Galerie presents saints and sinners, heroes and villains. This show is certainly not all about virtue: the dramatic scenes we see here vividly highlight the folly of human actions, the transience of all things earthly. A gorgeous spectacle of colour and beauty, from the saints and crucifixions of the Middle Ages, to superb examples from the Renaissance, and the magnificent world theatre of the Baroque.

You should allow approximately 90 minutes for a visit to the Alte Galerie. If you also wish to explore the State Rooms and the other museums at Schloss Eggenberg, a total of around 2 to 3 hours is recommended. Visitors who would like to explore the park at a leisurely pace or take a break at the café may wish to allow additional time.The guided tour of the State Rooms takes approximately 50 minutes.
