Live Blacksmithing at the Aufsteirern Christmas Market on Schlossberg Hill
Experience traditional blacksmithing up close – fire, flying sparks and fascinating insights
Fire, flying sparks and authentic craftsmanship: From 11 to 13 December 2026, the area in front of the “Liesl” Bell Tower on Graz’s Schlossberg hill will be transformed into a traditional blacksmithing workshop.
The skilled blacksmiths from Kalderum will demonstrate their craft and offer fascinating insights into the centuries-old art of blacksmithing. Watch up close as fire, hammer and anvil are used to create unique handcrafted pieces, bringing traditional craftsmanship to life.
If you miss the blacksmithing demonstrations on Schlossberg hill, you'll have another chance to watch the craftsmen at work at the Christmas market on Karmeliterplatz from 18 to 20 December 2026.

Venue: Area in front of the “Liesl” Bell Tower, Aufsteirern Christmas Market on Graz’s Schlossberg hill
Getting there by public transport: Tram lines 3 and 5, stop “Schloßbergbahn”. From the lower station, take the Schlossberg funicular up the hill.
