mmanuel Wilkins Quartet | Concert at Tube's
Immanuel Wilkins, one of the most important young voices in contemporary jazz, returns to Tube's in Graz. He made a remarkable impact on the jazz scene in 2020 with the release of his critically acclaimed Blue Note debut album, Omega.
In 2024, Wilkins released his third album on the legendary Blue Note label, Blues Blood. In 2026, he released his first live album, Immanuel Wilkins Quartet: Live At The Village Vanguard – a captivating three-part recording documenting his acclaimed quartet performing at one of New York's most iconic jazz venues. The recordings capture the quartet exploring Wilkins' original compositions in a setting steeped in jazz tradition, placing him among the renowned musicians who have made landmark live recordings at the Village Vanguard.
Each of Wilkins' album releases has been accompanied by awards, honours and enthusiastic reviews. In 2020, Omega was named the best new jazz release by The New York Times and the best jazz debut album by NPR. It was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the Best Jazz Recording category. Wilkins rounded off the year by winning the prestigious Letter One Rising Stars Award.
Two years later, he released his second Blue Note album, The 7th Hand. Like his debut, it topped numerous year-end lists, including those published by Jazzwise, NPR, The New York Times, the Financial Times and JazzTimes.
In 2023, Wilkins received three DownBeat Critics Poll Awards: Best Alto Saxophonist, Rising Star Composer and Rising Star Group. In 2024, his quartet won the International Live Act of the Year award at the German Jazz Prize.
Alongside touring as a bandleader, Wilkins continues to record and perform with fellow musicians and long-standing mentors, including Jason Moran, Kenny Barron, Wynton Marsalis, Bob Dylan, Solange, Joel Ross, Gerald Clayton and Lalah Hathaway.
