Graz is Wöd! (Graz is the world) concert at the Graz Opera House
What does Graz sound like away from the major cultural institutions? What music – some of it still undiscovered – can be heard in Styrian living rooms, pubs or clubhouses? Music producer Jochen Kühling set out to find out and struck gold: in cellars, former office spaces, quiet backyards and magnificent halls. There he meets musicians who practise their art with passion and skill – from the West African ngoni to the Styrian harmonica, from the Bolivian charango to the Armenian duduk.
The result: a captivating programme that brings the full diversity of Styria to the stage. Music that has migrated here with people from all over the world and found a new home here. Music you simply must hear.
Adding a spark of wit and energy is award-winning cabaret artist and musical comedian Elli Bauer. Born in Graz to a Scottish mother, she combines dry humor, guitar, singing and dance into a unique stage presence.
Together with Jochen Kühling, Elli Bauer guides the audience through an evening full of surprises, emotions and a joy of performance. A show that presents Graz from its most musically colourful side.
