Follia! - Two-part ballet evening at Graz Opera House
One day in July 1518, a woman began dancing through the streets of Strasbourg. She danced for days on end. Soon, the dancing fever had gripped several hundred people. – What is the power of collective hysteria that allows it to take such a hold on us? What compels us to take part in this process, which, viewed from a distance, seems downright absurd?
Following her critically acclaimed production *The Disappearance of Bodies* in the 23/24 season, choreographer Maura Morales returns to Graz and now explores, on the Main Stage with the dancers of Ballett Graz, the magnetic effect of ecstasy and dance through her powerful, sensual body language – once again set to the driving, rhythmic, almost hypnotic sounds of Michio Woirgardt.
Since 2019, choreographers Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich have been leading their company Metamorphosis Dance in Madrid, with which they perform at festivals across Europe. Together, they work as guest choreographers for, among others, Ballett Basel, Aterballetto in Italy and the Royal Ballet of Birmingham. This will be the first time an energetic and electrifying work by the duo has been seen in Austria.
