Cantando Admont: Solo cantando II - Three Voices
- 12/19/2025, from 19.30 to 21.30
Details
Cantando Admont's last concert of the year will take place at the Kultum in Graz and will be devoted entirely to three-part listening. There, the contemplative, tranquil beauty of Morton Feldman's ‘Three Voices’ will encounter the joyfully animated canzonettas of Claudio Monteverdi.
Composed for a singer and two tape voices she recorded herself, Elina Viluma-Helling's interpretation of Morton Feldman's ‘Three Voices’ unfolds in floating three-part harmony, creating imitative, self-reflective music full of nuanced repetitions and stretched time. Feldman wrote the piece in memory of two loved ones and described it himself as an ‘exchange of the living voice with the dead’. In this sense, Claudio Monteverdi's life-affirming, bright, equally three-part canzonettas form a complementary prelude to the revolutionary late work of the New York minimalist.
During the interval, Beat Furrer and Helena Sorokina – both familiar with Feldman's work for many years – will talk about their personal experiences with this wonderful music.
Venue: Kultum, Mariahilferplatz 3, 8020 Graz
