The Christmas Market on Graz’s Main Square (Hauptplatz) is one of the city’s most popular Christmas markets. Set against the historic backdrop of Graz Town Hall, festively decorated stalls invite visitors to discover Christmas treats, gift ideas and traditional crafts. At the centre of the square stands a magnificent Christmas tree, illuminated by thousands of sparkling lights.
One of the market’s special highlights is its festive lighting. A beautiful avenue of lights stretches from the Town Hall to the Christmas tree, while enchanting Christmas light projections illuminate the roofs of the market stalls. The façade of Graz Town Hall is another spectacular sight: Every evening, a special Advent calendar projection transforms the historic building into a giant illuminated Advent calendar.
Christmas fun for the whole family
There is plenty for children to enjoy, too. The colourful, illuminated children’s carousel brings smiles to little faces, while the popular Advent train departs directly from Main Square for a festive ride through Graz’s Christmas-decorated Old Town.
