Details
Friedrich Kleinhapl and the Camerata Novi Sad play film music by Ennio Morricone arranged for cello and orchestra.
Ennio Morricone - he was honoured with two Oscars for his music. Who would think that he never saw his future in music and certainly not in film music? That he was an avant-gardist at heart, an advocate of contemporary and experimental music? He accepted a commission from Hollywood just to survive. An emergency turned into world fame. ‘Pop music is written for the masses,’ he later said. ‘I also write for the masses, but I write real music!’ From the very beginning, he uncompromisingly utilised precisely those techniques that he had created in experimental music. The result is masterpieces that have been etched into the collective subconscious for generations.
Friedrich Kleinhapl's artistic vision goes far beyond the classical repertoire - this is particularly evident in his approach to the music of Ennio Morricone. Kleinhapl proves that the compositions of the world-famous film musician can also unfold with extraordinary expressiveness on the cello with his versions of the iconic works specially arranged for cello.
However, his interest in Morricone's music is not limited to the well-known melodic arcs. It is the cosmos of tonal colours, the variety of expressive techniques and the emotional depth of this music that captivates Kleinhapl. In close collaboration with the renowned Viennese arranger Alexander Wagendristel, the extraordinary concert programme ‘Viva Ennio Morricone’ was created - a musical homage that presents itself as a frenzy of sound colours and emotions.
The project took several years to develop. From intensive negotiations with the Morricone family and detailed work on the arrangements to the first performance, it was a long and challenging journey. For a long time, it seemed almost impossible to realise the programme. But with great commitment and thanks to strong partners, the visionary project was ultimately successfully realised.
‘Viva Ennio Morricone’ - a musical experience full of passion, depth and cinematic magic. Ideal for an unforgettable summer night concert.
