New Year’s Eve in Graz

 
 
 
 

At the strike of midnight, the whole of Austria waltzes to the Blue Danube. This is best experienced in the thick of the crowd who gather in the Old Town of Graz to enjoy its varied New Year’s Eve programme and to bring in the new year together.

New Year’s Eve village on the Hauptplatz: 29.12. bis 31.12.2011
This year for the second time there will be the three-day New Year’s Eve village on the Graz Hauptplatz. Following on from Christmas, on December 29th, 30th, and 31st, over 20 huts will be offering a wide range of gastronomic specialities and everything you need for celebrating New Year’s Eve. Free admission! On New Year’s Eve, the Mega Party on the Graz Hauptplatz kicks off at 4pm with a lively programme of events.

Traditional Fireworks: 31.12.2011
At the stroke of midnight the sky over the Old Town erupts into a shower of stunning, glittering fireworks – traditional on New Year’s Eve. 2011 is over – start the new year with a bang.

New Year’s Eve Walk:
The Graz Old Town is calm and peaceful on the last afternoon of the year – an ideal time to get in the mood for New Year’s Eve with a relaxed walk around the historic city centre.

ength: about 1.5 hours.

Culinaric City Walk (German only):
If your New Year’s resolution is to enjoy life more fully, then you should see out the old year with a gastronomic highlight: discover and taste Graz cuisine typical of the season and occasion.
